Chandigarh, April 21, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday launched a sharp political attack on the Punjab government, asserting that the BJP focuses on “development, not vote bank politics,” and claiming that drug networks would be dismantled if his party comes to power in the state.
Speaking at Sant Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh while addressing a delegation of the Rai Sikh community, Saini urged people in Punjab to “prepare for change” and work towards building a prosperous state.
Drawing a comparison between the two states, the Chief Minister said Haryana’s governance model reflects implementation on the ground, while Punjab remains limited to “announcements.” He highlighted the Haryana government’s move to introduce “reservation within reservation” for the Rai Sikh community, stating it ensured better representation in government jobs and administration.
Saini also described the Rai Sikh community as a symbol of courage and shared heritage, adding that their contribution to agriculture, service and nation-building has been significant. He said the government’s policies are guided by the principle of “Antyodaya” — reaching the last person in the queue.
Referring to leadership at the Centre, he said that under Narendra Modi, opportunities in the country are now driven by merit and capability rather than background.
The Chief Minister further said that including the Rai Sikh community in the ‘Deprived Scheduled Castes’ category was aimed at addressing long-pending concerns and bringing them into the mainstream.
Senior officials, including OSD Bharat Bhushan Bharti and Political Secretary Tarun Bhandari, were also present at the event.
