* Desh Bhagat University expresses gratitude to Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on the signing of the MoU
Chandigarh; April 30, 2026: Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Punjab, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, to advance national social initiatives. The partnership aims to promote collaborative programs, research, training, and outreach initiatives aligned with key national missions and social priorities, including education-based empowerment under “Shikshit Bharat” and economic progress through “Samriddh Bharat.”
On this occasion, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member (NISD) and Special Invitee/Member (NCCDR), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Government of India), congratulated Desh Bhagat University on signing the MoU with the Ministry and NISD, and wished them continued success.
Speaking on the occasion, Bindra stated that his department continuously works towards keeping youth away from drugs. He added that his department, along with Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar, will continue working for the welfare of youth and will make every possible effort for their development and protection from substance abuse. He also highlighted the crucial role of youth empowerment and awareness programs in preventing drug abuse.
He further stated that he and his department remain committed to the welfare of Punjab and its youth, and will continue taking necessary steps to protect young people from drugs. Bindra emphasized the importance of sports in safeguarding the younger generation from substance abuse. He also mentioned that in the coming time, sports kits will be distributed to encourage youth to stay away from drugs and engage in sports. Additionally, more initiatives will be undertaken to channel the energy of young people in the right direction.
In conclusion, Bindra expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Cabinet Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar for their visionary leadership and efforts toward empowering the youth.
