Peer Mohammad backs Supreme Court ruling on stray dogs, seeks harsher punishment for crimes against women and children

Chandigarh, May 19, 2026: Senior Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal Punar Surjit Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has supported the recent Supreme Court decision regarding action against dangerous stray dogs and demanded stricter punishment for those involved in crimes against women and children.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Peer Mohammad described the court’s decision as necessary for protecting public safety and maintaining law and order.
Expressing concern over rising crimes against women and minors, the Akali leader urged courts and governments to adopt stringent measures against those accused of heinous offences such as rape and sexual assault.
He stated that individuals committing such crimes pose a serious threat to society and stressed the need for stronger laws and strict punishment to create fear among offenders and ensure the safety of women and children.
Peer Mohammad added that ensuring the protection of innocent citizens, especially children and women, has become one of the biggest challenges for society today and called for urgent action to make society safer.
