281 candidates in fray for MC/NP Elections in Ferozepur, all 13 Wards of Mudki declared unopposed
Ferozepur, May 20: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Deep Shikha Sharma informed that a total of 281 candidates are in the fray for the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections scheduled to be held on May 26, 2026, in Ferozepur district.
Giving details, the Deputy Commissioner said that after scrutiny of nomination papers, 138 candidates are contesting from Municipal Council Ferozepur, 87 from Zira and 56 from Talwandi Bhai. She further informed that candidates from all 13 wards of Mudki have been elected unopposed, and no polling will be held there.
DEO said that a total of 1,20,271 voters will exercise their franchise in these elections, including 57,217 male voters, 63,049 female voters and 5 other voters.
She further stated that for any election-related information, voters may contact the concerned Returning Officers.
Providing further details, Deep Shikha Sharma said that a total of 132 polling booths have been set up across 63 wards for the elections. Out of these, 85 polling booths have been established in 33 wards of Municipal Council Ferozepur, 16 polling booths in 13 wards of Talwandi Bhai and 31 polling booths in 17 wards of Zira.
She added that polling will be held on May 26 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, while counting of votes will take place on May 29. Appealing to voters, the District Election Officer urged all eligible voters to exercise their democratic right fearlessly and responsibly without any fear or inducement.
