Keeping in view the intense heat and heatwave conditions, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amaninder Kaur today distributed hydration kits to the staff engaged in census work across the district.
While distributing the kits to census staff at various locations, including Jalandhar Cantt, she said that census personnel have to go door-to-door to collect information, but it is equally important for them to protect themselves from the scorching heat so that the task can be completed efficiently and within the stipulated time.
She stated that the district administration is committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of the staff involved in the census operation, and as part of this initiative, hydration kits are being distributed today.
Encouraging the census staff, she also shared important tips to prevent heat-related illnesses. She advised them to keep their heads covered to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Besides this, they were encouraged to consume plenty of water, ORS, lemon water, lassi, coconut water, and other fluids to prevent dehydration.
It is noteworthy that under Census-2027, enumerators in the district are conducting a door-to-door survey till June 13, 2026.
On this occasion, Assistant Charge Officer Rajan Sharma, officials from the Cantonment Board Jalandhar Cantt, Secretary of District Red Cross Society Surjit Lal, supervisors Minakshi Sharma, Vandana Puri, Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Bhagat, Pooja, and enumerators Rakesh Kumar, Pooja Gaba, Yashpal, Narendra Kumar, and Deepak Kumar were also present.
