Chandigarh, May 27: A special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Chandigarh has rejected the agency’s plea seeking day-to-day hearing in a corruption case involving suspended Punjab Police DIG Bhullar and his associate Krishnanu Sharda.
According to information, the CBI had approached the special court requesting daily proceedings in the high-profile corruption matter, arguing that continuous hearings were necessary for speedy disposal of the case considering its seriousness.
However, after hearing arguments from both sides, the special CBI court dismissed the application seeking a “day-to-day trial” against the accused.
The suspended DIG and his associate are facing serious corruption allegations, following which departmental action had already been initiated against Bhullar by the Punjab Police.
With the court rejecting the CBI’s request, the matter will now continue under the normal judicial process and hearings will take place on scheduled dates as per routine court proceedings.
