A review meeting to assess the progress of Census 2027: Phase-I – House Listing and Housing Operations was held in Bathinda under the leadership of Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Punjab.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Rajesh Dhiman, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda, Lovejeet Kalsi, PCS, Municipal Commissioner of Bathinda, and Kanchan, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Bathinda.
The Director reviewed the extensive efforts being carried out by the team of 2,530 Enumerators and 420 Supervisors across the district. She commended the dedication of the field staff and Charge Officers for their hard work and urged them to ensure timely completion of all remaining activities.
Dr. Khosa emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of data quality through continuous monitoring and effective coordination to meet the stipulated timelines.
As part of the review process, a field inspection was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and quality of data collection. Dr. Khosa, accompanied by the Municipal Commissioner of Bathinda, visited various urban and rural areas, including Model Town Phase 3, National Colony, and Village Gill Patti.
During these visits, the Director engaged directly with Enumerators working on-site, addressing their queries and providing guidance to enhance the quality of their work.
Dr. Navjot Khosa encouraged field staff to remain diligent in their efforts and stressed the importance of collecting complete and accurate data. She directed district officials to uphold the highest standards of reliability through regular supervision and unannounced inspections to ensure accountability and precision in the data-gathering process.
Given the ongoing heat wave conditions in the region, Dr. Khosa also emphasized the need for prioritizing health and safety measures for field personnel. Enumerators and Supervisors were advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take necessary precautions while performing their duties in challenging weather conditions.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far, Dr. Khosa commended the district administration and Census functionaries for their commitment to this critical national exercise. She expressed confidence in their ability to complete all Census-related activities within the prescribed timeframe.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman reaffirmed the district administration's dedication to achieving the Census goals on schedule. He assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure the smooth execution of Phase-I operations in Bathinda.
The review meeting marked a significant step forward in ensuring that Census 2027 progresses efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and reliability in its data collection efforts.
