Lahore/Chandigarh, June 11, 2026-
Saluting an unbreakable and historic bond of friendship that transcends geographical borders, religious divides, and the passage of time, the prestigious Aitchison College in Lahore, Pakistan, dedicated its Classroom No. 108 on Wednesday to the memory of the former Chief Minister of Punjab (India), the late Harcharan Singh Brar. This heart warming initiative stands as a stellar example of mutual love, shared heritage, and deep harmony between the people of India and Pakistan.

A 4-Million-Rupee Tribute to a Lifelong Friendship
The initiative to dedicate the classroom to Harcharan Singh Brar was spearheaded by Pakistan’s eminent Industrialist and philanthropist, Syed Babar Ali. Now centenarian, Syed Babar Ali was a childhood friend and close college classmate of the former Chief Minister during their formative years at Aitchison College. To ensure that the memory of his lifelong companion remains permanently etched in the halls of their alma mater, he generously donated 4 million (40 lakh) Pakistani Rupees for the classroom's restoration and dedication.

Emotional Unveiling Across the Border
To witness this historic milestone, Syed Babar Ali joined the ceremony virtually via video conferencing. Meanwhile, Harcharan Singh Brar’s daughter, Babli Brar, specially travelled from India to Lahore to attend the event in person. In a deeply emotional moment, she officially inaugurated the room by unveiling the commemorative plaque placed outside the classroom.

A Universal Message of Unity
The most striking feature of the newly installed plaque is the sacred, universal message—"God is One"—which has been meticulously inscribed in three scripts: English, Gurmukhi (Punjabi), and Urdu. This trilingual inscription serves as a powerful symbol of brotherhood, secularism, peace, and mutual respect, reflecting the shared cultural fabric that binds people across different nations and backgrounds.
