Chandigarh, June 17, 2026: Punjab's political landscape witnessed fresh controversy on Wednesday after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former IAS officer Jagmohan Singh Raju wrote to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, demanding a high-level investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into an alleged video purportedly linked to the Chief Minister.
In his letter to the Governor, Raju urged immediate intervention, describing the matter as highly sensitive and of significant public importance.
He called for an independent and impartial probe by the CBI to ascertain the video's authenticity and establish the facts surrounding the case.
The BJP leader stated that given the seriousness of the allegations and the public interest involved, a thorough investigation by a central agency would help ensure transparency and maintain public confidence in democratic institutions.
Raju's demand has added a new dimension to the ongoing political debate in Punjab, with opposition parties continuing to raise questions over the controversy. The development is expected to intensify political discussions in the state in the coming days.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Punjab government regarding the letter or the demand for a CBI investigation.
