Fazilka 22 June 2026
In a bid to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the electoral process, the Fazilka district administration, under the leadership of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, is leaving no stone unturned.
On June 22, a crucial meeting was held with representatives of recognized political parties to discuss the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders to create transparent, accurate, and inclusive electoral rolls.
The Deputy Commissioner shared detailed information about the schedule and process for the SIR as outlined by the Election Commission. October 1, 2026, has been designated as the qualifying date for this comprehensive revision.
This means that any citizen who meets the eligibility criteria by this date will be able to ensure their inclusion in the electoral rolls.
The revision process will kick off with door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from June 25, 2026, to July 24, 2026. During this period, BLOs will work diligently to verify voter details and ensure accuracy. Alongside this, the rationalization of polling stations will also be completed by July 24, 2026, ensuring that voters have easy access to their designated polling booths.
The timeline for the Special Intensive Revision is as follows:
- Draft Electoral Roll Publication:: August 3, 2026
- Filing Claims and Objections:: August 3 to September 2, 2026
- Hearings and Disposal of Claims and Objections:: August 3 to September 28, 2026
- Final Electoral Roll Publication:: October 1, 2026
This well-structured timeline provides ample opportunity for eligible voters to verify their details, rectify errors, and ensure their inclusion in the final list.
Recognizing the pivotal role that political parties play in mobilizing voters and ensuring their participation in democratic processes, Mrs. Sandhu emphasized the importance of coordination between Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognized political parties.
To facilitate this collaboration, special meetings between BLOs and BLAs will be held on June 23 and 24. These sessions aim to streamline communication and address any challenges that may arise during the revision process.
During the meeting, representatives of political parties were urged to actively engage their communities in the SIR process. They were encouraged to raise awareness among eligible voters about the importance of verifying their details in the electoral rolls. Whether it’s ensuring that new voters are registered or correcting errors in existing entries, every effort counts towards strengthening democracy.
The Deputy Commissioner also reassured attendees that any objections, grievances, or difficulties related to the revision process could be directly addressed with her or other senior officials, including the Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner or the Election Tehsildar. This open-door policy underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The success of any electoral process lies in its inclusivity and accuracy. By involving recognized political parties, local officials, and community members in the SIR process, Fazilka district is setting an example of how collaborative efforts can lead to a more robust democracy.
The emphasis on coordination between BLOs and BLAs is an example to the administration’s dedication to leaving no eligible voter behind
