Amritsar (Punjab), June 27, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has convened a crucial meeting in Amritsar on Sunday, a day before Sikh MLAs and Sikh Cabinet Ministers of the party are scheduled to appear before Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The meeting will be chaired by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and is expected to focus on the party's response to the summons issued by the Sikh temporal authority. Arvind Kejriwal has already reached Amritsar to attend the meeting.
Sri Akal Takht Sahib has directed all Sikh MLAs in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, along with Sikh Cabinet Ministers, to appear before it on June 29 in connection with the passage of the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, 2026.
Summons have been issued through official letters to the legislators, seeking their appearance before the Akal Takht over the legislation passed by the Punjab Assembly.
The meeting in Amritsar is being viewed as significant, as the party leadership is expected to deliberate on the issue and chalk out its course of action ahead of the appearance of its Sikh legislators and ministers before Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Monday.
