New Delhi, June 28, 2026: The Central Government has ordered the premature repatriation of Rashmi Kamal, a 2006-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the West Bengal cadre, to her parent cadre on administrative grounds.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 26, the officer has been relieved from her Central deputation and returned to the West Bengal cadre with the provision of extended cooling off.
The decision comes just months after Rashmi Kamal took charge as the Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) in West Bengal. The two positions are key Central assignments responsible for overseeing census-related work and citizen registration in the state.
