Morinda (Punjab), July 3, 2026: Former Punjab Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday hosted a high-profile meeting of senior party leaders at his residence in Morinda, drawing 26 prominent Congress figures amid continuing discussions over the party's recent organisational reshuffle.
The gathering included three sitting MLAs, former ministers, former MPs, former legislators and other senior party functionaries, making it one of the largest meetings of Congress leaders in Punjab since the party announced its new organisational appointments.

Those present included Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa (MLA), Kuldeep Singh 'Kala' Dhillon (MLA, Barnala), Rana Gurjit Singh (MLA, Kapurthala), former Deputy Chief Minister Om Parkash Soni, former ministers Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Gurkirat Singh Kotli, former MP Mohammad Sadiq, former Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon, former MLAs Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Nazar Singh Manshahia, Parminder Singh Pinki, Davinder Singh Ghubaya, Tarqbir Singh Bolaria, Darshan Singh Brar, Harminder Singh Gill, Madan Lal Jalalpur, Joginder Pal, Dinesh Bassi, Dalvir Singh Goldy, Kamaljit Singh Karwal, and Balkaur Singh, father of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, among others.
The meeting comes amid growing debate within the Punjab Congress over the party's new organisational structure announced by the high command. While leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the state unit, no official statement on the outcome of the meeting was issued immediately afterwards.
