Chandigarh, July 8, 2026: The Punjabi film "Satluj," based on the life of renowned human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, is witnessing widespread public screenings across Punjab after it was removed from the ZEE5 OTT platform.
Following its removal, the film has been screened at several Gurdwara Sahibs, village community centres, and other public venues, drawing large gatherings. Many villages have also organised screenings on big screens, allowing people to watch the biographical film collectively.
Observers say the screenings have helped the movie reach audiences who may not have had access to OTT platforms, particularly elderly viewers and residents of rural areas. The community screenings have significantly expanded the film's reach beyond its original digital release.
Meanwhile, copies of "Satluj" have been widely circulated on messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram, with users sharing the film across social media and private groups. The movie has rapidly gained attention, with public interest growing following its removal from the streaming platform.
