Chandigarh, July 10, 2026: Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Friday issued a stern warning to veterinary officers and staff, stating that delay, absenteeism, negligence and poor service delivery in animal healthcare will not be tolerated, and those found guilty will face strict disciplinary action.
Chairing a review meeting at the Livestock Complex in SAS Nagar, the minister reviewed the functioning, infrastructure and sanitation standards of veterinary hospitals and dispensaries across the state.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the condition of several veterinary facilities, Khudian directed the Director of Animal Husbandry to ensure urgent repairs, infrastructure upgrades and improved maintenance within a stipulated timeframe.
The minister also instructed that every veterinary hospital and dispensary must have round-the-clock electricity and safe drinking water, stressing that proper cold storage facilities for vaccines must be maintained. He warned that any lapse in vaccine storage would result in direct accountability of the officials concerned.
"Livestock owners must receive timely and dignified services without inconvenience. Officers and staff must remain punctual and ensure that all government welfare schemes reach beneficiaries promptly and without discrimination," Khudian said.
Reiterating the Punjab government's commitment to strengthening animal healthcare services, the minister said pending public grievances, negligence in duty and unauthorised absence from work would invite strict action under the service rules, leaving no room for complacency.
