Delhi High Court suspends Judge Vinay Singhal with immediate effect; Details Inside

New Delhi, July 13, 2026: The Delhi High Court has placed Vinay Singhal, District and Principal Judge, Tis Hazari Courts and a senior officer of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service (DHJS), under immediate suspension pending proposed disciplinary proceedings.
The suspension was ordered through an official notification issued by Registrar General Arun Bhardwaj on July 10, 2026.
According to the order, the High Court has initiated the action as disciplinary proceedings are being contemplated against Singhal. The order, however, does not specify the allegations or grounds on which the proceedings have been proposed.
The suspension has been ordered in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 27 of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1970, read with Rule 3(1)(a) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, which empower the High Court to place a judicial officer under suspension pending inquiry or disciplinary proceedings.
During the suspension period, Singhal’s headquarters will remain the Office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge (Headquarters), Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi.
The High Court has also directed that he shall not leave the National Capital Territory of Delhi without prior permission from the competent authority.
As per the order, the suspended judicial officer will be entitled to subsistence allowance and other admissible allowances in accordance with the applicable service rules during the period of suspension.
The Delhi High Court has not disclosed any further details regarding the disciplinary proceedings or the allegations against the judicial officer.
