Light rain likely in 16 Punjab districts

Chandigarh, July 14, 2026: While Punjab and Chandigarh are expected to witness largely dry weather on Tuesday, light rainfall is likely at isolated places across 16 districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). No weather warning has been issued for the state.
The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre has forecast cloudy skies with chances of light rain in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr), Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali.
Despite the possibility of scattered showers, the prevailing humid conditions are expected to push temperatures higher. On Monday, the state’s maximum temperature rose by 1.5 degrees Celsius, remaining close to the seasonal average.
Bathinda recorded the highest maximum temperature in Punjab at 39.6°C, making it the hottest place in the state.
In Chandigarh, skies are expected to remain cloudy, with light rain likely in some parts of the city. A thunderstorm is also possible during the day.
Weather experts said the southwest monsoon is likely to regain strength around July 21-22, when the monsoon trough is expected to shift southwards again. Until then, residents are likely to experience continued heat and high humidity, with limited relief from scattered rainfall.
