A grand Gurmat Samagam dedicated to the completion day of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and the 320th foundation day of Damdami Taksal was held at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, under the leadership of Damdami Taksal chief Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.
A large number of devotees participated in the religious programme and paid obeisance. Following the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the congregation was spiritually enriched through Gurbani Kirtan, discourses on Sikh history and Gurmat vichar, highlighting the teachings and principles of the Sikh Gurus.
Addressing the gathering, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami described Damdami Taksal as a symbol of the Sikh Panth’s distinguished educational and martyrdom tradition. He said that from Baba Deep Singh Ji to Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, the Taksal has made unparalleled sacrifices for the preservation of Gurbani, Sikh principles and the sanctity of the Guru Ghar.
Dhami said that Damdami Taksal continues to render dedicated service in the fields of accurate Gurbani pronunciation and learning, religious education and Panthic unity. He also appealed to the Sikh community to remain united under the guidance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Panthic institutions.
Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Singh Sahib Baba Tek Singh Dhanoula, said that Damdami Taksal represents a great and longstanding tradition of accurate Gurbani recitation, Sikh learning and religious propagation.
He said the sacrifices of Baba Deep Singh Ji had inspired the Taksal to play an important role for centuries in preserving the correct pronunciation, interpretation and understanding of Gurbani, along with Gurmat education.
Jathedar Baba Atma Singh, Malwa Zone President of the Damdami Taksal Panthic Sewak Jatha, said that the event witnessed the participation of several prominent Sikh personalities and a large number of devotees.
Among those present were SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami; Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Singh Sahib Baba Tek Singh Dhanoula; Singh Sahib Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib; Sant Baba Kaka Singh, chief of Bunga Mastuana Sahib, along with office-bearers and members of the Damdami Taksal Sewak Jatha.
Those attending included Jathedar Kuldeep Singh, Haryana President; Baba Gurjant Singh Rori, Chairman and Vice-President, Haryana; Jathedar Atma Singh Chehal, President, Malwa Zone; Jathedar Gurmeet Singh, Legal and Media Advisor, Punjab and Haryana; and Bhai Jasnoor Singh, Vice-President, Malwa Zone, besides a large number of devotees.
The devotees participated in the religious ceremonies with devotion and received spiritual inspiration through Gurbani Kirtan, Sikh history and Gurmat teachings.
