CGC University Mohali marks 80th Independence Day with flag hoisting, NCC parade

Mohali (Punjab), August 15, 2026: CGC University, Mohali, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour, bringing together students, faculty and staff to commemorate the country’s journey of independence and reaffirm their commitment to nation-building.
Retired Major General Ajay Sood attended the celebrations as the chief guest. The programme began with the hoisting of the national flag, following which those present saluted the Tricolour and paid tribute to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s freedom.
The celebrations also featured a parade by NCC cadets. Displaying discipline, precision and enthusiasm, the cadets showcased the values of courage, commitment and service.
Addressing the students, the university management highlighted the important role of young people in nation-building. Students were encouraged to pursue knowledge, uphold honesty, develop innovative thinking and contribute actively towards the vision of a ‘Developed India’.
The event emphasised that independence is not merely a historic achievement but an ongoing responsibility shared by every citizen, particularly the youth. The university urged students to turn opportunities into progress and their aspirations into meaningful contributions to society.
The celebrations concluded on a patriotic note, with the university community reaffirming its commitment to the values of freedom, unity, responsibility and service.
