Chandigarh, August 18, 2026: An emergency weather alert has been issued for the Tricity region, covering Chandigarh, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) and Panchkula, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places over the next three hours.
Residents in the three areas received an automated emergency sound/hooter alert on their mobile devices as authorities issued the warning to ensure timely public awareness.
The alert has advised residents and commuters to exercise extreme caution, particularly while travelling during the period of heavy rainfall. People have been advised to avoid low-lying and waterlogged roads and postpone non-essential outdoor travel until weather conditions improve.
