SBSSU hosts Capacity-Building Workshop under RAMP on advanced skills and entrepreneurship
Ferozepur, August 19, 2026: One-day Capacity Building Programme under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme to familiarise students with emerging industrial technologies, government initiatives, entrepreneurship and evolving market requirements was hosted by Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) State University.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Sharma by the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Government of Punjab, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Ferozepur, and SBS State University.
The programme began in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Sharma, Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and Ms. Shubhangi Sethi, Regional Manager, India Seabery. The workshop aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and the practical requirements of the industry.
The technical sessions covered Technology Extension Centres, Government Schemes and PIBDP-2026, Entrepreneurship in Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Welding Technology and Simulation, followed by a panel discussion. Dr. Manjinder Singh delivered a detailed session on advanced welding and simulation technologies.
Ms. Shubhangi Sethi and Shubham Mehndiratta provided students with practical exposure to advanced welding simulators, enabling them to understand modern techniques through hands-on learning.
Sukhraj Singh Virk, Functional Manager, DIC Ferozepur, along with other expert speakers, briefed the participants about government schemes, technology extension initiatives and emerging career opportunities in the industrial sector. The speakers encouraged students to continuously upgrade their technical skills in accordance with changing industry demands.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Sharma said that capacity-building programmes were essential for equipping students with practical knowledge and familiarity with advanced technologies. He said such initiatives could help students respond effectively to changing industrial requirements while creating new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
The programme witnessed active participation from industry experts, including Munish Dheer and Hitesh Uppal, besides faculty members and a large number of students.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the Head of the Department, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, experts, faculty members and students for their participation and contribution to the successful conduct of the workshop.
