Two-Day Satya Dharma Bodh Utsav Concludes at Dev Samaj Educational Institution
Ferozepur, August 22, 2026: A two-day Satya Dharma Bodh Utsav was organised at Dev Samaj Educational Institution, Ferozepur, on August 21 and 22, 2026. Dev Samaj is described as a scientific religion founded by the revered Bhagwan Devatma on February 18, 1887. The four Dev Shastras authored by Bhagwan Devatma provide knowledge and awareness of the soul. Keeping this objective in view, satsangs and religious festivals are organised by Dev Samaj to inspire individuals to overcome lower attachments and tendencies, attain spiritual upliftment and dedicate themselves to service.
The two-day programme was organised with the participation of Prof. (Dr.) Agnees Dhillon, President of the Dev Samaj Management Council and Chairperson of Dev Samaj College Educational Institution, Ferozepur; Ram Vilas Pandey, Secretary, Dev Samaj and Counsellor, Dev Samaj College Management Committee; Counsellors Manoj Madan and Jagdish Rai Gaba; Manvinder Singh Mangat, Chief Administrative Officer, Dev Samaj Headquarters, Sector 36-B, Chandigarh; members of the Representative Assembly; religious followers; Ajay Batta, Secretary, Dev Samaj Institution, Ferozepur; principals; and teaching and non-teaching staff.
The first session on August 21 began with a devotional bhajan dedicated to the glory of Bhagwan Devatma. The session was presided over by Shri Ram Vilas Pandey, who spoke about the importance of discipline and following rules in life. He said that personal development is possible only by living according to discipline and principles. He also stressed the need to stay away from criticism, backbiting and harmful actions and to follow the path of service, benevolence, compassion, tolerance, faith and gratitude for the betterment of life.
At 4 pm, a session by Manoj Madan was held on the topic “Human Development and Protection”. He highlighted the importance of human life and explained its multidimensional aspects in accordance with the teachings of Bhagwan Devatma. Through interesting examples and experiences, he explained the principles essential for human development and protection.
Shri Madan emphasised that human beings should lead a life based on service, benevolence, gratitude and faith. Such values, he said, can help humans establish harmony with other realms of existence, including the plant, physical and animal worlds, while respecting each other's rights and performing their duties. This, in turn, can contribute towards peace and harmony in the world and help humanity take pride in its existence.
The first session on August 22 was conducted by Dr. Agnees Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj, on the topic “Know the Self”.
Dr. Dhillon explained three major obstacles that prevent a person from truly knowing oneself. First, people often lose the distinction between what is primary and what is secondary, allowing secondary matters to become more important than the real purpose of life. Second, there is often a difference between the objective of life and the means adopted to achieve it. While service may be the real purpose of life, material possessions such as houses, cars, land and property may become the primary focus, leading a person towards a selfish way of life. Third, people may perceive individuals and events in a distorted manner and fail to understand their real significance.
She illustrated these points with examples from the lives and ideas of figures such as Karl Marx and Socrates, and also referred to the thoughts of former Dev Samaj Secretary, the revered Shrima Nirmal Singh. Examples from the elevated lives of Sardar Harnam Singh and Jagdish Chandra Bhardwaj were also presented. The session was described as highly impactful and thought-provoking.
At noon, another session was conducted by Jagdish Rai Gaba, who spoke about the benefits derived from the festival and expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the programme. Other participants and devotees also expressed their gratitude to the Dev Samaj management and resolved to bring positive changes in their lives.
During the second session, devotees and teachers associated with Dev Samaj shared their experiences and spoke about the positive and higher values and changes that had emerged in their lives after becoming associated with Dev Samaj.
The two-day Satya Dharma Bodh Utsav concluded with a message of self-awareness, discipline, service, compassion, gratitude and harmonious living, reflecting the core values emphasised during the various sessions.
