PAU-KVK holds two-day 'Nutrition and Health Training' for Anganwadi workers
Ferozepur, August 26, 2026: A two-day training camp for Anganwadi workers of the district was organised at Punjab Agricultural University-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (PAU-KVK), focusing on nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices. The main theme of the training was “Nutritional Management of Lifestyle-Related Diseases through a Balanced Diet and Healthy Lifestyle.”
The training programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Gurmell Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director, KVK Ferozepur. Addressing the participants, Dr Sandhu highlighted the important role played by Anganwadi workers in disseminating accurate information on nutrition and health among children, women and families. He stressed the importance of a balanced diet, healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition for disease prevention.
During the training, Dr Divya Jain, Assistant Professor (Home Science), provided detailed information on balanced diets, the importance of various nutrients, healthy eating habits and nutritional management of lifestyle-related diseases. She encouraged the Anganwadi workers to share the knowledge gained during the training with children and families in their respective areas.
Dr B.S. Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), conducted a practical demonstration on kitchen gardening. He explained the nutritional value and health benefits of vegetables grown in home gardens and shared practical tips on selecting seasonal vegetables, sowing, plant care and improving yield. He also encouraged participants to grow nutritious vegetables at home by making efficient use of limited space and available resources.
The training also provided Anganwadi workers with practical skills related to nutrition, health and self-employment opportunities. The programme aimed at strengthening their capacity to promote nutrition awareness in their communities and motivate families to adopt healthier lifestyles.
