Trees tied with Rakhis to spread message of environmental protection

Ferozepur, August 27, 2026: Volunteers celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with a unique and inspiring environmental initiative, tying rakhis to trees at different locations and urging people to protect nature.
Sadhvi Karmali Bharti said that just as Raksha Bandhan strengthens the bond of love, trust and protection between brothers and sisters, trees are also protectors of human life. They provide clean air, shade, fruits and other natural resources, making their protection a moral responsibility of every individual.
As part of the campaign, volunteers tied rakhis to trees and encouraged people to plant more trees and, importantly, take care of them until they grow into healthy trees. People were also motivated to conserve water, reduce the use of plastic and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
Sadhvi Devendra Bharti, a disciple of Ashutosh Maharaj, said that such initiatives aim to create awareness and strengthen people's sense of love and responsibility towards nature. She said tying rakhis to trees on Raksha Bandhan symbolically conveys the message that our relationship with nature should also be based on love and protection.
She added that caring for trees today would ensure clean air, a greener environment and a healthier planet for future generations. She appealed to people to connect special occasions with the welfare of society and the environment instead of limiting them to rituals.
Sadhvi Harjeet Bharti urged people to adopt the message, “Connect with trees, plant trees and protect trees.” The initiative was appreciated by local residents, several of whom pledged to plant and care for more trees in the future.
