Newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bathinda, Sohail Mir Qasim, has taken an encouraging first step towards strengthening police-media relations by holding a face-to-face interaction with members of the Bathinda media fraternity.
Soon after completing his engagements related to the Punjab Chief Minister’s high-profile three-day visit to Bathinda, the SSP made time to meet journalists and media representatives, signalling his willingness to maintain an open, accessible and constructive relationship with the fourth estate.
The interaction served as both a public-relations outreach initiative and an opportunity for the newly appointed police chief to receive first-hand feedback from journalists about issues concerning the city and district.
The meeting began with an introduction session, allowing SSP Sohail Mir Qasim to familiarise himself with members of the local media while also giving journalists an opportunity to interact with him directly.
The informal yet purposeful interaction reflected the SSP’s approach of listening, engaging and maintaining direct communication with stakeholders. Media representatives shared their perspectives on policing, public safety and issues that frequently come into public focus.
