Ludhiana, Bathinda, September 16
Ludhiana is gearing up to host a significant youth mobilisation event on September 28, commemorating the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The state-level programme, titled 'Jashan-e-Inqlaab', will take place at the PAU Ground in Ludhiana, marking not only a tribute to Bhagat Singh but also a pivotal organisational moment for Punjab's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), particularly its Youth Wing.
The event's poster has already been unveiled by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, underscoring its importance. Beyond the commemoration, the gathering is a strategic move by AAP's Youth Wing, which has been actively establishing village-level youth welfare clubs across Punjab.
Malwa's Youth Leadership at the Forefront
This mobilisation effort prominently features the Malwa region, with youth leaders from Bathinda, Mansa, and Sri Muktsar Sahib playing key roles. The initiative is spearheaded by Hardeep Singh Sra, Vice-President of the AAP Punjab Youth Wing, alongside Ramandeep Sidhu, District Bathinda President; Raman Guraddi, District Mansa President; and Khushbir Singh Mann, President of the Muktsar district unit.
The Youth Wing's ongoing campaign aims to create youth welfare clubs in every village, fostering community engagement and leadership development. These clubs are envisioned to have at least 21 members each, with designated office-bearers.
From Grassroots to the Big Stage
What began as a grassroots initiative in Bathinda is now set to manifest as a major youth presence in Ludhiana. This effort seeks to build direct connections with young people in Punjab's villages, offering platforms for sports, social service, and leadership development. Hardeep Singh Sra has highlighted the initiative's goal of channeling rural youth's energy towards constructive activities and addressing issues like drug abuse.
Jashan-e-Inqlaab': A Youth-Centric Celebration
The theme 'Jashan-e-Inqlaab' gives the Ludhiana programme a distinctly youth-oriented focus. Bhagat Singh is an enduring symbol of revolutionary youth politics in Punjab. The event not only commemorates his legacy but also seeks to engage contemporary youth in meaningful ways.
The campaign emphasizes youth participation, community engagement, sports, social responsibility, and grassroots leadership. Bathinda's leadership has been central to this drive, with significant efforts launched in the district by Hardeep Singh Sra and Ramandeep Sidhu.
District Leadership Driving Mobilisation
District-level leadership is crucial for the event's success. Ramandeep Sidhu from Bathinda, Raman Guraddi from Mansa, and Khushbir Singh Mann from Muktsar are expected to coordinate youth participation from their respective areas.
While the programme officially centers on Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary, its scale and organisational backdrop lend it a clear political dimension. The AAP Youth Wing has been actively pursuing statewide outreach and grassroots engagement among young people. The creation of village youth clubs adds another layer to this network.
A New Narrative for Youth Politics
With political parties increasingly focusing on young voters and grassroots organisation, the expansion of village-level youth networks has become crucial. The AAP Youth Wing's campaign emphasizes taking organisational activity into villages rather than confining it to urban centers.
'Jashan-e-Inqlaab' could emerge as a major gathering for this newly activated network. For Bathinda, Mansa, and Muktsar, it will be an opportunity to showcase their youth mobilisation efforts. For the state Youth Wing, it will test the effectiveness of its grassroots structure in translating into a large statewide gathering.
