The Kisan Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party has raised the issue of non-availability of essential medicines at rural dispensaries in Bathinda district and urged the authorities to ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply of medicines for people in villages.
Paramjit Dhillon, State Secretary and In-charge, Malwa West Zone, Kisan Wing, Aam Aadmi Party, has brought the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office and the Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, through a memorandum, seeking prompt intervention to address the shortage of medicines in rural dispensaries.
Dhillon said the issue came to his attention during his visits to various villages for the distribution of Chief Minister Health Insurance Cards. During these visits, several residents approached him and complained about the non-availability of prescribed and essential medicines at government dispensaries.
“People in rural areas, particularly economically weaker families, depend heavily on government health facilities. Villagers have informed me that they are often compelled to purchase prescribed medicines from private medical stores because these are not available at rural dispensaries,” Dhillon said.
He said that he had accordingly submitted a memorandum to the concerned authorities, requesting that the availability of medicines at rural dispensaries be reviewed and adequate stocks of essential medicines be ensured on a regular basis.
Dhillon urged the government and district administration to take necessary action so that rural residents could receive prescribed medicines from government health facilities without having to bear additional financial burden.
He expressed hope that the matter raised through the memorandum would receive prompt attention and that necessary directions would be issued to the concerned health authorities to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines in rural dispensaries.
