Army’s swift rescue operations save two from Sidhwan Canal
Ferozepur/Doraha, September 28, 2026: In two separate incidents in the Sidhwan Canal recently, personnel of 113 Engineer Regiment, 7 Infantry Division, displayed promptness and courage and helped save the lives of two people.
In the first incident, Abhay Kumar Singh accidentally fell into the Sidhwan Canal. With the water flowing strongly, the situation quickly became serious. A nearby Army safety boat team noticed him and immediately moved in to help. Despite the strong current, the personnel managed to bring him safely out of the canal.
The second incident took place on 26 September 2026 at around 8:30 pm, when Pawan Kumar was swept into the canal. The Army personnel noticed him and immediately began a rescue operation. Despite the strong current, the safety boat team managed to bring him safely to shore. He was given first aid and later handed over to the local police.
In both incidents, the alertness and quick response of the Army personnel played an important role. Their ability to quickly assess the situation and act without delay helped save two lives.
We usually see the Army protecting the country’s borders, but incidents like these also show that the Indian Army stands firmly with civilians whenever help is needed.
Saving two lives is no small achievement. The courage and selfless spirit shown by the personnel of 113 Engineer Regiment is truly commendable and highlights the humanitarian and service-oriented side of the Indian Army.
