Gurugram (Haryana), October 2, 2026 – On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) launched the ‘GVP-Free Campaign’ in Gurugram under “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026”.
Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Friday inspected the GVP-free site developed by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram near the DHBVN Colony on Mehrauli Road and formally launched the campaign.
In his message, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini emphasised that cleanliness should not be limited to government arrangements and that active participation lof citizens is equally important.
He said that the government can provide systems and facilities and make use of modern technology and resources, but segregating waste generated from households and institutions is the responsibility of every citizen.
He highlighted government systems, modern technology and public participation as the three important aspects of the cleanliness campaign and said that the objective is to transform the cleanliness drive into a broad-based citizens’ campaign through public participation.
Segregate waste and do not dump it in the open
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens not to throw waste in the open, to segregate waste at source and to hand over waste only to authorised waste collection vehicles. The objective of the GVP-Free Campaign is not merely to clean the identified locations once, but also to promote responsible behaviour among citizens so that garbage does not accumulate again at these points.
10 days, 21 garbage-vulnerable points and one clean Gurugram
As per the campaign launched by the Municipal Corporation, the GVP-Free Campaign will be conducted from October 2 to 11.
