Chandigarh, October 8, 2026: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said the party could form an alliance with any political party other than the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress, provided it agrees with the SAD’s views on Punjab and the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Speaking to a news channel on the alliance question, Badal said the SAD was open to working with parties that shared its position on Punjab and the Akali Dal.
The statement comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with political parties expected to assess possible alliances and electoral arrangements in the run-up to the polls.
