VWS hosts talk show on empowering girls on Int’l Day of Girl Child
Ferozepur, October 10, 2026: Highlighting the importance of equal opportunities, quality education and a supportive environment for girls, Vivekananda World School, Ferozepur, organised a talk show titled “A Daughter’s Dream, A Nation’s Future” on Saturday to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, which falls on October 11, Held under the theme “Educate, Empower, Elevate,” the programme provided a platform to discuss girls’ aspirations and practical measures to help them realise their potential.
Prabha Bhaskar, Patron-in-Chief of VWS, attended the event as the chief guest, while Dolly Bhaskar, Secretary of VWS, was the special guest. The initiative was the brainchild of Dolly Bhaskar, who envisioned the programme as a platform for meaningful dialogue on girls’ aspirations and their role in shaping society.
VWS Vice-Principal Shipra Narula welcomed the distinguished guests on the dais. The talk show featured personality development mentor Bhavdeep Kohli from Moga, eminent gynaecologist Dr Richa David, Women Cell Station House Officer Sukhbir Kaur and the In-charge of the Cyber Cell. They shared their perspectives on personality development, healthcare, personal safety and gender equality.
During her address, Shipra Narula highlighted the initiatives undertaken by VWS to nurture the potential of its girl students and prepare them to become global leaders in their chosen fields. She emphasised that the school’s vision extends beyond academic excellence to holistic development, focusing on confidence, leadership, independent thinking, communication skills and decision-making.
She stressed the importance of providing girls with opportunities to explore their interests and excel in diverse fields, including science, technology, sports, entrepreneurship, arts and public leadership. By encouraging equal participation, recognising individual aspirations and providing a supportive learning environment, VWS seeks to prepare its students to compete confidently on national and international platforms, free from gender stereotypes and societal limitations.
Speaking on personality development, Bhavdeep Kohli emphasised that academic knowledge alone is not sufficient to excel in life. Self-confidence, effective communication, a positive attitude and adaptability are equally important. She appreciated VWS’s core vision of nurturing Confidence, Communication, Curiosity and Consistency, describing these as essential pillars of character building. She explained that confidence enables students to express themselves, communication helps them connect with others, curiosity encourages continuous learning, and consistency transforms aspirations into achievements. She also appreciated the school’s efforts to integrate these values into students’ development, preparing them to become capable, responsible and well-rounded individuals.
The programme also examined the responsibilities of families and educational institutions in ensuring that girls have access to quality education, healthcare, emotional support and opportunities to make informed choices. Representatives of the Women Cell and Cyber Cell drew attention to harassment, abuse and cybercrime, stressing the importance of digital awareness, responsible online behaviour and knowledge of available support mechanisms.
Dr Richa David’s medical perspective added depth to the discussion on healthcare awareness and adolescent well-being, underlining the importance of addressing girls’ physical and emotional needs.
Inspector Sukhbir Kaur highlighted issues such as harassment, abuse and cybercrime, stressing the importance of digital awareness, responsible online behaviour and knowledge of available support mechanisms. She emphasised the need to educate girls and society about safety measures and the resources available to address such concerns.
The occasion also recognised the contributions of distinguished women from education, entrepreneurship and literature. The honourees included Dr Richu Karan Garg, writer, poet and owner of Chabeela Emporio Plaza; Muskan Monga, Managing Director of DIL Se Crafted by Muskan; Nitika Monga, Founder-Principal of Angel’s Paradise Pre-School; Disha Tiwari, Principal of Child Time Playway School; Anuradha Devgan, Founder-Principal of Ayushman Play School; and Anju Bala, Headmistress of Warian Wala Primary School, Zira. Their achievements reflected the contributions of women to education, creativity, entrepreneurship and community development.
The programme reaffirmed VWS’s commitment to holistic education and social responsibility, emphasising the need for sustained efforts to create a society where every girl can pursue her ambitions with dignity and confidence.
