Mansa, October 18, 2026: The Action Committee formed in connection with the alleged murder of Parvinder Singh Jhotta, a prominent leader of the Anti-Drug Task Force, has decided to oppose Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s proposed visit to Mansa on October 20, particularly his planned meeting with Jhotta’s family.
At a meeting held late Sunday evening, the committee decided to urge Bhim Singh Fauji, father of Parvinder Singh Jhotta, to maintain distance from the Union Home Minister. Committee leader Hardeep Singh Sidhu announced the decision.
Sidhu said the Action Committee, which is leading the agitation over Jhotta’s killing, had resolved to oppose Amit Shah if he visits Mansa. The Union Home Minister is expected to visit the town on October 20, although official confirmation of the visit is still awaited.
Questioning the performance of the BJP and the Central Government in tackling the drug menace, the committee alleged that the Centre had failed to take sufficiently effective measures to curb the growing spread of drugs across the country. According to the committee, the drug menace is not an issue confined to Punjab alone, and the Central Government also bears significant responsibility for addressing it.
Meanwhile, the Action Committee will hold its first meeting with the district administration on October 19. The committee is expected to raise its demands concerning the investigation into Jhotta’s killing, action against the accused, and justice for the bereaved family.
