Mansa (Punjab), October 21, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will investigate the Parvinder Singh Jhota murder case under the supervision of a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)-level officer, as the agency has begun examining evidence and recording statements in Mansa.
A five-member CBI team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-level officer reached Mansa on Tuesday night and took possession of files and evidence related to the case.
CBI team questions family at their residence
According to information, the CBI team had initially asked Jhota’s father and other family members to appear at the Mandi Board rest house to record their statements. However, when his father did not arrive, the team visited the family’s residence.
The house was locked from inside when the team reached there. The officials spoke with family members for around 15 to 20 minutes before leaving. The team did not share details of the interaction.
The CBI team is also reported to have visited the site where Jhota was shot as part of its investigation. The agency is expected to examine other aspects of the case, including a possible visit to the residence of Ashwini, an accused in the case, and questioning people familiar with him.
Statements from the family, the evidence collected by investigators and the inspection of the shooting site are expected to be important parts of the probe.
Further details about the findings and the next course of action are awaited as the CBI investigation progresses.
