Dala (Punjab), October 24, 2026: The family of Jasmine, a Punjab-origin woman allegedly murdered in the United States, has thanked the residents of Dala village in Moga district for raising their voice for justice and extending support following her death.
Jasmine was allegedly murdered in the US on the night of September 30. According to the statement issued by her family, her body was taken to a forest and set on fire. Police in Sacramento, where Jasmine and her in-laws lived, have arrested her husband, Gurinder Gill, in connection with the case. Further investigation is underway.
The family said demonstrations demanding justice for Jasmine are being held at various places under the banner of “Justice for Jasmine”. The Dala village panchayat has also passed a condolence resolution mourning her death and condemning the killing.
Jasmine was working as a nurse in the US and held a Green Card, the family said. It also alleged that claims suggesting she was being taken away by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation were false and intended to mislead investigators. These claims were reportedly found to be misleading during the Sacramento police investigation.
In a letter released to the press on October 24, Jasmine’s mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, her brother Pash and sister-in-law Harsimran Kaur, residents of Haibowal Kalan in Ludhiana, expressed gratitude to the Dala village panchayat and villagers for standing with the family.
The family said the support extended by the village had strengthened its hope of securing justice for Jasmine. The letter was released along with a copy of the panchayat’s condolence resolution.
