Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), November 2, 2026: Air connectivity between Delhi, Shimla and Dharamshala resumed on Sunday after a two-day disruption, bringing relief to passengers travelling to Himachal Pradesh during the winter tourist season. Alliance Air has also introduced a revised winter schedule, with flights operating in the morning.
The revised timings are important for passengers who have already booked tickets, particularly those travelling between Shimla and Dharamshala. Travellers are advised to check their flight status before leaving for the airport, as weather and operational conditions can affect services in the mountainous region.
Delhi flight to reach Shimla at 8:50 am
Under the new winter schedule, the flight from New Delhi will depart at 7:40 am and arrive at Shimla’s Jubbarhatti Airport at 8:50 am.
The connecting service from Shimla to Dharamshala will depart at 9:15 am and reach its destination at 10:05 am.
The return flight from Dharamshala will leave at 10:30 am and arrive in Shimla at 11:20 am. The final leg, from Shimla to New Delhi, is scheduled to depart at 11:45 am and arrive in Delhi at 12:55 pm.
The revised schedule allows passengers to travel between the three destinations within the morning hours.
51 passengers recorded on first day of resumption
On the first day after the disruption, 23 passengers arrived at Shimla Airport on two arriving flights, while 28 passengers departed on two flights.
The figures reflect the passenger movement recorded following the resumption of services. Regular operations and sustained passenger demand will be important for the viability of air connectivity to the state’s smaller airports.
Air connectivity expected to support winter tourism
Shimla and Dharamshala are among Himachal Pradesh’s prominent tourist destinations, particularly during the winter season. Direct air connectivity from Delhi offers a time-saving alternative for tourists planning short trips.
The service is also useful for local residents, business travellers and people travelling to Delhi for essential work.
However, the benefits of air connectivity depend on regular operations, ticket availability and timely communication about changes in flight schedules.
Airfares remain a concern for passengers
Airfares on the Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Dharamshala routes have also been a concern for travellers. According to fare figures reported in May 2026, the Delhi-Shimla fare increased from around ₹4,500 to ₹7,441, while the Shimla-Dharamshala fare rose from approximately ₹2,100 to ₹4,125.
These are previously reported figures and should not be treated as confirmed fares for the current winter schedule. Actual ticket prices may vary depending on the travel date, seat availability and applicable booking conditions.
Weather remains a challenge for regular operations
Shimla’s Jubbarhatti Airport is located in a mountainous area where poor visibility, adverse weather and operational constraints can affect flight movements. The recent two-day disruption has underscored the importance of timely updates for passengers, particularly those travelling on connecting services.
With the winter tourist season underway, the key challenge will be maintaining regular air connectivity between Delhi, Shimla and Dharamshala while ensuring that passengers receive timely information about cancellations, rescheduling and ticket availability.
