SAD receives huge boost with BKU (Kadian) extending unconditional support to the party for the 2027 assembly elections
(Sukhbir S Badal appeals to all Kisan and Mazdoor organizations to support the SAD)
(Asserts AAP will face complete exodus and that CM Bhagwant Mann would lose from Dhuri)
Chandigarh, November 2 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today received a major boost with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Kadian) extending its unconditional support to the party for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.
An announcement to this effect was made by BKU (Kadian) president Harmeet Singh Kadian while addressing a press conference at the SAD head office here along with SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Harmeet Kadian said “we have conducted a three month exercise before extending unconditional support to the SAD. We approached all political parties and realized that all of them, except the SAD, do not have any pro-farmer policy agenda. The track record of both the erstwhile Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments vis a vis farmers is abysmal. The AAP government also reneged on a written agreement with our organization. Its track record of arresting farmers and supporting their party leaders who even stole the trolleys of Kisan organization workers is also there for all to see. It also did not give the promised compensation to farmers who suffered huge losses in floods last year as well as hail storms more than six months back. Considering all this, we feel that a regional party like the SAD which upholds Sri Akal Takht Sahib, can alone safeguard the interests of the farmers of Punjab”.
Giving further details, Mr Kadian said the union had submitted a memorandum to the SAD President seeking opening of the Attari – Wagah border for trade with central Asian countries, crop diversification and encouragement to food processing, MSP for more crops besides wheat and paddy, crop insurance and stopping outsiders from purchasing land in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sukhbir Badal thanked Mr Kadian for extending support to the SAD and appealed to all Kisan and Mazdoor organizations to support the party. He also recalled how the union leader’s father – S Partap Singh Kadian, who had founded the BKU, had also served as a SAD legislator in 1968. He assured that all the issues highlighted by the union would be taken up for resolution once the SAD formed the government in 2027.
Mr Badal also spoke on how the SAD was committed to farmer welfare and that no other party had done so much for the farming community. Mr Kadian also asserted that all pro-Punjab Kisan organizations should support the SAD. EOM
Answering a media query about desertion of AAP legislators from the party, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “you will witness a complete exodus from AAP. All AAP legislators feel betrayed by their own party. They know Punjabis have started to hate the party”. Mr Badal also asserted chief minister Bhagwant Mann would lose from Dhuri. He also announced that once the SAD formed the government all those who had looted the State and its resources would be brought to justice. EOM
