Jalandhar (Punjab), November 7, 2026: In view of the expected rush of passengers during Diwali and Chhath Puja, the Railways will operate 15 pairs of special trains from Punjab to Bihar to facilitate festive-season travel.
Additional arrangements have also been made at major railway stations to manage the passenger rush and ensure safety. At Jalandhar City Railway Station, a temporary waiting area spread over 400 square metres has been set up for passengers.
During an inspection of Jalandhar City Railway Station, Ferozepur Division Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjeev Kumar said medical teams were being deployed at stations, while help desks and additional ticket counters were being arranged to assist passengers.
Passengers can also book unreserved tickets through the Railways’ UTS mobile application, he said. bA special war room has been established to monitor train movement and the situation at railway stations across the Ferozepur Division round the clock.
Commenting on the recent fire incident involving the Jalpaiguri Express near Rajpura, Kumar said a high-level investigation was underway. He said it would be premature to comment on the cause of the incident before the inquiry was completed.
