Ludhiana, December 12, 2022: The process of filing nomination papers for election to the prestigious Sutlej Club, Ludhiana has started today.
About 3,000 members are enrolled to this Club whose election is scheduled to be held on December 24. All the prospective candidates are making their strategies to win the elections.
Dr. Sulbha Jindal, an entrepreneur and veterinarian, is a strong contender for the post of sports secretary. She is getting maximum support of club members.
She said perhaps she is the only woman who has decided to contest for the post of sports secretary. “As per my knowledge no woman has ever been the club’s sports secretary”, she said, adding that she would create a history if she gets elected for the post of sports secretary.
She strongly believes in women empowerment and wants that club’s female members and their children should actively participate in sports activities. She herself is a national level swimmer both at the school and college levels. She said she would work for women empowerment and upgrade sports infrastructure, if elected.
Presently, the club has the facilities of badminton, lawn tennis, squash, billiards, table tennis and swimming, she said, adding she will increase capacity of sports facilities required enabling negligible waiting period. “There is a need to motivate female members and their children to use all these sports facilities available in the club premises”, she said.
Adding, she said there is also a need to appoint more skilled sports trainers in the club so that club might produce district, state and national-level sports persons.
She said being a national-level sportswoman she would like to give back to the society, if elected. She hopes that electorates of the club will show their complete faith in her abilities and give a chance to serve as a sports secretary.
In a categorical tone, she said she is contesting only to serve the society at large and make more people healthier.
