Punjab’s Elders to reap benefits of free healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme
Ferozepur/Mamdot, January 1, 2025: Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, the Health Department organized an awareness camp at Mamdot today to inform newly elected sarpanches and panchayat members about the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme. Representatives from the Mamdot block actively participated in the session.
District Mass Media Officer, Sanjeev Sharma elaborated on the Punjab government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services. He highlighted that under the Ayushman Bharat Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, residents of Punjab can avail of cashless treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh annually. These services are accessible both at government hospitals and approved private hospitals, ensuring world-class healthcare facilities close to home.
Sharma added that the scheme now extends to all individuals aged 70 and above, offering free healthcare services without any additional requirements. This initiative includes coverage for various categories under the scheme, reflecting the government’s dedication to the well-being of its citizens.
Deputy Mass Media Officer Ankush Bhandari praised the initiative, calling it a significant step for the elderly population. He shared that many senior citizens in Ferozepur district have already availed themselves of the scheme by obtaining Ayushman Bharat cards. Eligible individuals aged 70 and above can easily get their cards by visiting civil hospitals, community health centres, or Common Service Centers (CSCs) with their Aadhaar cards.
Special support for the camp’s success came from Gurdev Singh Khalsa and Balraj Singh of the Panchayati Raj Institutions. The event concluded with an appeal to all district residents to ensure that their senior family members register for the scheme to benefit from free and reliable healthcare services.
