Asian Games 2026: India wins bronze in mixed 4x100m relay, sets national record

Aichi-Nagoya (Japan), September 29, 2026: India won the bronze medal in the mixed 4x100m relay at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with the quartet of Gurindervir Singh, Sneha Sathyanarayana, Animesh Kujur and Harita Bhadra clocking a new national record of 41.06 seconds on Tuesday.
The Indian team finished third behind China, which won gold in 40.78 seconds, and Thailand, which took silver in 40.87 seconds.
India’s 41.06-second effort bettered the previous national record of 41.35 seconds, set by Ragul Kumar, Nithya Gandhe, Animesh Kujur and Sneha at the 2026 World Relays in Gaborone.
The medal added to Harita Bhadra’s successful campaign at the Games. The sprinter had earlier won bronze in the women’s 200m, clocking 23.20 seconds. She became the first Indian woman since Dutee Chand in 2018 to win an Asian Games medal in the event.
Animesh Kujur also finished fifth in the men’s 200m final, while Gurindervir Singh, the national record holder in the men’s 100m, was part of the Indian relay quartet. Sneha Sathyanarayana is also part of India’s senior relay setup.
India had qualified for the mixed 4x100m final after finishing second in its heat on Monday with a time of 41.54 seconds.
