Activist Mohanjit Singh’s health deteriorates; Shifted to Rajinder Hospital; Watch Video

Patiala (Punjab), September 6, 2026: Activist Mohanjit Singh, who was allegedly assaulted by police following his protest against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Sheron village in Sangrur district, has been referred from Sangrur to Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala after his health deteriorated.
Doctors at Rajindra Hospital have started his treatment following the transfer, according to reports.
The case has triggered a political controversy in Punjab, with allegations of police assault against Mohanjit Singh drawing attention from political and farmers’ groups.
The National Human Rights Commission has also taken cognisance of the allegations and issued a notice to the Punjab Government in connection with the alleged custodial assault.
Meanwhile, police action has reportedly been initiated against Sunam DSP Harwinder Singh Khaira and two station house officers in connection with the matter.
Mohanjit Singh had allegedly protested during Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s “Lok Milni” programme at Sheron village by displaying a black flag as a mark of protest against the drug problem in Punjab. He was subsequently taken into police custody, according to reports.
