Ferozepur police strike hard on drug network; 8 arrested in 3 cases with heroin, weapons, drug money

Ferozepur, June 17, 2026: Continuing its campaign against drug trafficking and criminal activities under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” and “War Against Gangsters”, Ferozepur Police have intensified surveillance against unscrupulous elements involved in the illegal drug trade and other crimes.
SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh said that special teams have been constituted under the supervision of senior police officers to keep a strict vigil on drug smugglers and anti-social elements. Based on the input in three separate cases registered under the NDPS Act and Arms Act, police recovered heroin, banned medicines, illegal weapons, drug money and stolen property, while eight accused were arrested.
In the first case, the CIA Zira team arrested five accused and recovered 5.775 kg heroin, 1,33,640 banned drug tablets and capsules, two .30 bore pistols with three magazines, two live cartridges, one Glock pistol (Austria made) with magazine, 39 live cartridges of KF 7.65 bore, six mobile phones, a Swift car and Rs 36,600 cash. The arrested accused were identified as Manjinder Singh (24) of Lakha Bhedia, Jagjit Singh (22) of Mallanwala, Gurdev Singh (55) of Mamdot Uttar, Mintu (22) and Rashpal Singh alias Sewa (24), both residents of village Kunde. Police said that Mintu was already involved in an NDPS Act case, while Rashpal Singh has seven NDPS Act cases registered against him.
In the second case, CIA Makhu police arrested Karandeep Singh alias Karan (22), a resident of Chotian Road, Fatehgarh Panjtoor. Police recovered 50 grams of heroin, one pistol with magazine, Rs 2.80 lakh suspected drug money and a Maruti car from his possession. The accused was already involved in a case under sections 24, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
In the third case, Ferozepur City Police arrested Luvpreet Kumar (26) of Mohkam Khan Wala and Ravi Kumar (32) of Basti Bhattian in connection with snatching and theft cases. Police recovered two motorcycles and 10 mobile phones from them. Luvpreet Kumar was previously involved in an NDPS Act case registered in 2025, while Ravi Kumar was facing cases under sections 303 and 317 of the BNS.
The SSP said that Ferozepur Police will continue strict action against drug smugglers, gangsters and persons involved in criminal activities to maintain law and order in the district.
