International Drug Network Busted in Amritsar; Links to Pakistan-Based Smugglers Exposed
Amritsar, May 1, 2025 – In a major breakthrough, the Counter Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police has busted an international narcotics smuggling network operated by foreign-based smuggler Jassa and his associates, who have alleged links with Pakistan-based operatives.
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the intelligence-led operation uncovered the involvement of Jodhbir Singh alias Jodha, a resident of Amritsar Rural, who acted as the India-based associate of the foreign handlers. Acting on their instructions, Jodhbir reportedly retrieved heroin consignments and facilitated their distribution across India.
Preliminary investigations also revealed that Jodhbir Singh was responsible for collecting drug proceeds and transferring them to Pakistan through hawala channels.
During a recent raid, the police recovered 5 kilograms of heroin, a currency counting machine, and other incriminating material. An FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the accused and dismantle the wider network.
