Six family members escaped major injury, although a woman sustained minor injuries to her hand.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on a street near Bal Mandir School, close to the house of Kishore Sarpanch. The house belongs to Rampravesh, who earns his livelihood as a mason.
According to his son, Nitish Patel, the family members were sitting in a room when a loud explosion shook the house. The lightning strike damaged the RCC roof and travelled from the upper floor to the ground floor. A hole was also reportedly formed in the ground near the main entrance.
The family’s daughter-in-law, who was preparing bread in the kitchen at the time, suffered minor injuries to her hand after receiving an electric shock. The other family members escaped unharmed.
Electrical wiring, appliances damaged
The family said the lightning strike damaged the electrical wiring on both floors of the house. Two LED televisions, a television set, four fans, a refrigerator, a water heater, a sewing machine and a mobile phone were also reported damaged.
The family is facing a substantial financial burden due to the damage to the roof, electrical fittings and household appliances. The exact extent of the loss has not been officially assessed.
