Longowal, August 20, 2026 – Punjab is for Punjabis, said Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal while appealing to the people to end the remote control rule of the State from Delhi once and for all even as she assured that bringing peace and communal harmony, removing gangster rule and ending the scourge of drugs would be the top most priority of the next SAD government.
In an emotional and powerful speech in which she also asserted that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal would never be cowed down by the cowards who had attacked him twice in Gurughar, the Bathinda MP also came down heavily on Guru Dokhi chief minister Bhagwant Mann by failing to take action in 600 acts of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and challenging the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who was addressing a massive party conference held here to commemorate the 41st martyrdom anniversary of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, also urged Punjabis to get rid of divisive forces who was looting the State and destroying the future of its youth by leaking examination papers besides putting a debt of Rs 1.5 lakh on each and every Punjabi.
Urging the people to think why ‘Punjab da Put” Sukhbir Singh Badal was being attacked in Gurughar, Badal said “it is clear this is being done by cowards who have become stooges of governments”. She said the SAD had always put peace and communal harmony and development of the State first and this was not to the liking of its opponents who wanted to split the party by encouraging fringe elements. “These 'outsiders' are using 'Saam Daam Dand Bhed' to divide Punjabis and rule over them”.
Asserting that the murderous attack on the SAD president while he was in the precincts of a gurdwara was against the principles of Sikhism, Badal said “yes as a wife and a mother I did get scared for a moment but today I can strongly look you in the eyes and assert we are all not scared and never will be”. She said it was this sentiment which had made the SAD’s opponents jittery as they realized that Sukhbir Singh Badal was in Chardikala and would continue to follow the footsteps of his father and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal by working for communal brotherhood and welfare of Punjabis.
Badal also urged Punjabis to examine how the family of the “Master da Munda” was rolling in wealth. “How they are loading themselves with gold and wearing footwear worth crores. The Shiromani Akali Dal is committed to recovering the proceeds of these corrupt deeds come what may!” she asserted even as she called for an independent probe into allegations of the chief minister’s immediate family being involved in demanding Rs five crore in bribe to let a rape accused off the hook.
Speaking about the Guru Dokhi chief minister, the SAD leader said Punjabis should launch a protest against Bhagwant Mann for insulting the Guru Sahiban as well as Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala and even forging a forensic report to discredit the findings of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. She also asserted that incidents of sacrilege started in 2015 when AAP entered the State. She also condemned the AAP government for giving guarantees that they would ensure justice was done in the 2015 sacrilege case in four months but doing nothing and even allowing the cases to be transferred out of the State.
Badal also boldly asserted no one was stopping the AAP government from taking action in sacrilege cases which had swelled to more than 600 in the last around ten years. “Similarly no one is stopping the AAP government from taking action against the drug mafia and eradicating this menace but they have presided over the expansion of the drug menace with even national level agencies reporting that the drug overdose deaths are the most in Punjab”.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiromani Committee president Harjinder Singh Dhami urged the ‘sangat’ to wholeheartedly participate in the second phase of the Miri Piri Khalsa March which would start on August 23 from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and culminate at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib.
Senior leaders including Balwinder Singh Bhundar and Bikram Singh Majithia spoke on how the AAP government had supported the Punar Surjit Dal and allocated the Anaj Mandi shed to the party at the last minute even though the SAD had booked the same and even submitted the fee for the booking. They praised the party’s district leadership for putting up a massive show despite having only 12 hours to put up the tents and make arrangements at the new site. Senior leaders including Sikandar Singh Maluka, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema,Hira Singh Gabria, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Tejinder Singh Middukhera,Winnerjit Singh Goldy,Satnam Rahi, Kulwant Kanta, Zahida Suleman, Gulzar Moonak, Gagandeep Khandebad, Nath Singh Hamidi, Balbir Singh Ghunas, Jassi Manvi,
