Punjab revises salaries of sanitation workers, sewermen; New pay effective from Sept 1

Chandigarh, July 28, 2026: The Punjab Government has announced that the revised salaries of sanitation workers and sewermen employed in urban local bodies and Improvement Trusts will come into effect from September 1, 2026.
According to an official order issued by the Directorate of Local Government, Punjab, the decision follows the state government's approval to enhance the remuneration of sanitation workers and sewermen working under Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Improvement Trusts.
The order, dated July 27, 2026, directs all Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Executive Officers of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, and the Chief Administrator of Improvement Trusts to implement the revised wages from September 1, 2026.
The Directorate has instructed all urban local bodies to complete the necessary formalities to ensure the revised salary structure is implemented without delay.
The order has been issued with the approval of the Local Government Minister, Punjab.
