In a significant move to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, Roll Observer Mohammad Tayyab, IAS, conducted a thorough evaluation of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address claims and objections raised by citizens during the revision process.
During his visit, Mr. Tayyab emphasized the importance of due diligence and fairness in handling the claims and objections submitted by the electorate. He underscored the necessity for officials to adhere strictly to prescribed procedures, thereby ensuring that no eligible voter feels disenfranchised or unjustly treated.
The super check involved a detailed review of 251 claims and objections that had already been addressed by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). Mr. Tayyab meticulously examined each case to verify that decisions were made with accuracy and impartiality. His directives to the officials were clear: maintain high standards of diligence throughout the process to uphold the credibility of the electoral roll.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal provided insights into the ongoing efforts, stating that the disposal of claims and objections is proceeding in alignment with established schedules and procedures. She assured that the final publication of the electoral roll is slated for October 12, 2026, following the completion of all necessary revisions.
The visit also included an assessment at Derabassi, where Mr. Tayyab reviewed the progress of form disposals and overall revision activities. His presence and oversight are seen as pivotal in reinforcing the commitment to a transparent electoral process, which is fundamental to democratic governance.
