Police busts drone drug smuggling racket, seizes heroin worth Rs.22 Cr in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 19, 2025: Even as guns remain silent along the Indo-Pak border due to the ongoing ceasefire, Pakistan's attempts to destabilize India through illicit means continue, with narcotics being pushed via aerial routes. In a significant victory against cross-border crime, the Punjab Police in Ferozepur have successfully intercepted a major drug smuggling operation.
Acting on a crucial tip-off received by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team, Ferozepur police laid a trap and intercepted a vehicle, leading to the arrest of four drug traffickers.
Bhupinder Singh SSP Ferozepur informed the media about the successful operation. During the search of the intercepted vehicle, police recovered a substantial quantity of heroin, weighing 4.225 kg, with an estimated street value of ₹22 crore along with ₹1,97,500 as drug money was also seized from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Swaran Singh, Gurwant Singh, Sandeep Singh, and Manpreet Singh. Authorities confirmed that three of the arrested are residents of the Ferozepur district, while the fourth hails from Fazilka. Shockingly, police also revealed that all four individuals have previous criminal records.
SSP Bhupinder Singh further elaborated on the operation, stating that a case has been registered at the Ferozepur Sadar Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are currently underway to thoroughly trace the backward and forward linkages of this intricate smuggling network. He assured that multiple raids are being conducted to dismantle the larger network involved, and more arrests are anticipated in the near future. This successful operation underscores the vigilance and proactive measures being taken by the Punjab Police to counter the persistent threat of cross-border drug trafficking.
