Qadian (Gurdaspur), June 28, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday announced that Qadian has been granted the status of a sub-division, fulfilling a long-pending demand of local residents and aiming to improve the delivery of government services in the region.
The Chief Minister said the decision would enable residents to access key administrative services locally, eliminating the need to travel to distant government offices for routine official work.
Mann said that with Qadian becoming a sub-division, various government departments and administrative officers would function from the same location, making public services more accessible, efficient and transparent.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also appointed senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gurikbal Singh Mahal as the new Sevadar (constituency in-charge) of Qadian. Mann said Mahal has been entrusted with full responsibility to oversee development works and address public grievances in the constituency.
Expressing confidence in Mahal’s leadership, the Chief Minister said the appointment would help expedite pending development projects and ensure that public welfare initiatives are implemented without delay.
