New Delhi, July 3, 2026: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed concern over the alleged theft from donation boxes at the Shri Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya, calling for stringent action against those found guilty and urging the temple trust to strengthen its management and operational systems.
In a statement issued on Friday, RSS Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) Dattatreya Hosabale said the grand temple at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is a symbol of faith and devotion for millions of Hindus, built through the sacrifices and efforts of generations of devotees.
Hosabale said the alleged theft had deeply hurt the sentiments of devotees and described the incident as painful and disturbing.
Referring to the steps taken after the incident, he said the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had requested the Uttar Pradesh Government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT), following which legal proceedings were initiated based on the SIT’s recommendations.
He said those found guilty after the investigation should face strict punishment.
The RSS also said it expects the temple trust to treat the incident as an exceptional matter and take effective measures to address any shortcomings in the temple’s management and functioning.
According to the statement, strengthening financial management, ensuring transparent operational systems, and maintaining the sanctity of the temple are essential to preserving the faith of devotees.
The organisation further appealed to the Hindu community to remain patient and exercise restraint while the investigation is underway. It also urged people not to allow what it described as “anti-Hindu and anti-national forces” to exploit the incident to defame Hindu society and religion.
The statement comes amid an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft at the Ram Temple premises, with the SIT continuing its probe.
